Sleep Apnea Increases Risk of Death
Recent research confirms that people with severe sleep apnea have a 3.2-fold increase in risk of death from any cause compared with people who do not have sleep apnea. Dr. Terry Young of the University of Wisconsin said that "Untreated sleep apnea is significantly associated with increased risk of death."

Dentists play an important role in screening and treating obstructive sleep apnea since one of the three main methods for treatment of mild to moderate sleep apnea includes the use of an oral appliance.
